The first step in my expedition through Europe.

I found out towards the end of April that I was accepted to the University of Stirling in Stirling, Scotland. I will be spending the lovely months of September through December in Scotland and various other European countries. I will be arriving back home in Iowa just in time for Christmas with the family.
Some of you may be wondering why I chose Scotland. Since middle school, I have wanted to travel around Europe especially Ireland and Scotland (I mean who wouldn't want to go to Scotland after watching Braveheart??). While at UNI, I began to realize how many options were available in regards to studying and traveling abroad. Eventually and after much deliberation, I decided that what would fit me best was to study for a semester in Scotland.
Stirling is not in the Highlands. It is in southern Scotland on the eastern border. It is located about an hour north and a little west of Edinburgh.
Now as to why I chose Stirling. The university itself is about the same size as UNI and the campus is also similar in size. The town of Stirling is also close in population to Cedar Falls and Waterloo. So altogether I figured it would be like going home to UNI but in a different country with completely new people, customs, and routines! Also, the scenery is gorgeous. There's a loch on campus and a castle in town! What more could a girl want?!
